During the pandemic, it is key that we incorporate as many opportunities as possible for kids to connect with others. Writing letters is a great way to do this, especially if the recipient writes back!
Materials:
- Paper and pen
- Envelope and stamp
Directions:
- Think of someone you want to make feel good, a grandparent, a neighbor, a teacher
- Write them a letter
Why it works:
- Empathy is an important skill. Writing letters is great practice.
- Receiving a letter feels good and hopefully the person will write back.
Variations:
- Think of something you would like to learn more about, like the Grand Canyon. Write and ask for information.
- Have you kids write to an imaginary figure like Santa Claus. Then you write back pretending to be that character.
